On September 28 at Thiruvananthapuram’s Greenfield International Stadium, the first T20I in a three-match series between South Africa and India was held. The visitors beat the Proteas by 8 wickets.

In the opening three overs, the Indian pacer pair of Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar ran riot, dismissing five South African batsmen for just nine runs. The South Africans were never able to recover and could only manage 106 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets.

India’s response saw them easily reach the mark despite a shaky beginning and chase down the total in 16.4 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets.

KL Rahul, who batted first for Rohit Sharma and company, scored the most runs with a score of 51 not out from 56 balls. Suryakumar Yadav, who batted at number four, also made an unbeaten 50 from 33 balls.

KL scored a six to end the game and reach fifty overall. India only played in Thiruvananthapuram three times previously to this match, therefore following India’s victory, captain Rohit Sharma made sure the supporters present at the stadium had a good time.
